Sir,
I do not know much about you. But I have looked up to the humanitarianism.
I have not been a constant follower of your work, but maybe somewhere you have inspired me.
There is one small article I have circulated amongst my circle.
I would like to share the same with you.
COST OF A DROP OF WATER
The word efficient means:
Performing or functioning in the best possible manner with the least waste of time, effort and resources.
Is Mumbai water-efficient? Or should I say, does Mumbai know what efficiency means?
There are lakhs of buildings in Mumbai out of which there are more than 1500 high rises. Can you imagine what a huge water body we can create if we combine all building terraces? If we estimate the terraces to be 10% of Mumbai, the total reaches to an astonishing 60 Sq. Km!!
Bearing that in mind I would like to focus on three main issues:
1. Rainwater harvesting is the accumulation and deposition of rainwater for reuse. In many places the water collected is just redirected to a deep pit with percolation. The harvested water can be used for drinking, gardening, washing, construction and irrigation.Eg. At Cement House, Churchgate, a sewage treatment plant is set-up, which helps save 50% of the water consumed.
2. There is a need for coating the externals of buildings with impregnating chemicals. As each brick absorbs almost two litres of water. This treatment also enhances the life of the structure. Depending on the surface, budget and aesthetics, one can choose the desired coating.
3. Please fix all leaky taps and pipes, it is absolutely criminal when the water is wasted through these. One classic example is of Artist Aabid Surti. He began knocking on neighbors’ doors, accompanied by a plumber, and asking if they have leaking pipes or taps that needed to be fixed. Surti is the founder of Drop Dead Foundation, a NGO that fixes leaks every Sunday morning. He has fixed more than 400 leaking taps and has saved more than 4 lakh litres of water.
All of us must have seen or heard that the most crucial time a human strives for a drop of water is when taking the last few breath of life.
That reminds me the cost of a drop of water!
So save water and save the earth.
As a customer focused enterprise, we at KWICK FIX SOLUTIONS, suggest the best remedial measures with state of the art technology to ensure efficient use of water and other resources, keeping the customer’s budget in mind.
